About Kate
I grew up immersed in music. My parents taught music and my brothers all played one instrument or another. I myself have played the piano for as long as I can remember.
I'm a composer and performer. Stylistically eclectic, I perform and compose in multiple genres, but am most passionate about jazz and classical fusion. I have written for some short student films, a water treatment training DVD and scored for a documentary on Methampethamine that is in post-production.
I have five albums and one on the way. Elusive Victory and Dangerously Beige are piano and voice art songs. Lullabies For Grownups are solo piano works that were written with alternative healthcare practitioners in mind. I love working with other musicians and on multi-media projects.
"I cannot say enough positive words about working with Kate to develop an audio track for our project, Contamination Explorer. Her professionalism, creativity and attention to detail are unparalleled. Without even seeing some of the final scenes, Kate was able to create amazing scores by simply asking us to describe the scene and the feelings we would like to portray with the music." -Ben Cichowski (former Director of Training, Montana Water Center)
"Our work together began in 1993 when she agreed to compose original music for my senior film thesis in animation. Using very basic scene descriptions, Kate went to work and returned with themes that were nearly identical to what was needed for each scene....Her music lent so much power to the hand-drawn animation that we were awarded the Galusha Award for Best Senior Film. Since music and sound are the more important half of the cinema equation, I knew that I had found a powerful ally in Kate's talent for creating emotional music spaces." -Ken Glynn, Luminous Digital Media
